Any suggestions?  I've heard that churches help out but I don't know any or how to find them or what to ask them.  I tried the Angel Food Ministries food program for 3 months, it was great.  It also gave me a gallbladder attack - so much for that.

I have an income of $2400 a month from long term disability insurance, you would think that would be a pretty nice income.  I did myself.  I've had foggy brain problems ever since I left work a year ago to go on disability - and was 80% of the reason I left work.  I started "waking up" about 2 weeks ago and decided to figure out why I kept running out of money.  My perscription costs average $1350 a month.  My rent is $850 a month, I'm in a 2 year lease.  That leaves me $200 to pay electricity, car, buy food, etc.  I see two different doctors, each a minimum of 4 times a year, their visits run $65 a month.  I have no health insurance.  I have not been aproved for SSD yet (hearing sometime soon) and even if I were it would be over a year before I could get medicare which I don't think covers perscriptions.

I USUALLY get new perscription glasses every 12 - 16 months.  Even when I had insurance they cost around $300 because I'm legally blind when I don't wear my glasses.  Last time I got new glasses the examining eye doctor told me I've started getting cateracts, probably steroid induced (one of the 13 perscriptions I take) and would need surgery in the future.  Hopefully that will wait until I get Medicare.

I was in a townhouse when I left work.  I moved out in Aug because I knew I couldn't afford it, my homeowner's fee was $300 a month let alone the mtg payments. I also had credit card bills.  I tried to write to all of them to tell them what happened.  I'm pretty sure they've all had at least 2 letters in the last 12 months.  I no longer answer my cell phone, I have a (downloaded while still working) unique ring tone for friends.

I have Lupus, high blood pressure, diabetes, and arthritis. My most expensive perscription is the about $550 every 6 weeks CellCept.  Its what is keeping my Lupus under control and may be why I don't seem to have organ damage yet.  Cellcept has programs for people who have had organ transplants only as that is what it was developed for.  About 4 of my perscriptions are gotten at Sweet Bay for $4 - $20 each.  The rest don't qualify for that program.

I've applied for food stamps before and couldn't get them because I had a savings.  I think even my unreachable retirement counts against me.  I tried again online but they said it didn't look like I would qualify. I have over a thousand in the checking account right now because I get paid once a month on the 15th and about 300 in a savings.  I'm about to buy some Cellcept but I plan to only take half the pills this time.  I've cut down the amount I take and am doing the same on most my other meds to stretch them.  No I haven't told the doctor's yet.  I haven't cut down on my blood pressure med.

Reply to Jirel:---You got me there Jirel, the two foods that I cannot eat or drink are fatty foods and alcohol in any form. When my gall bladder burst the bile that was excreted dissolved part of my pancreas and stomach as well as some large intestines and I laid in the hospital for over a month with a gaping hole in my stomach area and I had to heal from the inside out. I don't know much about Angel Food Ministries other than a great many here on aidpage are very much indebted to them. I tried to find it in my state but it is not available anywhere near Spokane Washington. Were you able to get to the sites I gave you? I sincerely hope you can find some relief  with the cost of your meds. Thanks for the info. sheshe030

Fatty foods cause gallblader problems in fat, fair women over fourty.  Just ask any doctor.  The 3 F's is what they call it in grad school.  Angelfood Ministries while a great place for cheap food does not give you low fat meat, that is the expensive cuts of meat.  What you get tends to be very fatty and not stuff that you can easily cut off.  Since meat makes up a good 70% of the value of the box, it would be ridiculous for me to buy the box.

Reply to Jirel:---If you qualify for SSD you should be able to qualify for medicaid and or medicare. Although you are bringing in quite a lot for being disabled and your more likely to be accepted for SSD if you were already on medicaid. Your in one of those "damned if you do and Damned if you don't" situations. You stated that you were getting help through AngelFoodMinistries and they caused you to have a gall bladder attack. You don't really believe that food from them caused you a gallbladder attack do you? I've had a real gall bladder attack to the point of peritinitus setting in. I would like to blame a lot of things for my attack but honestly I had it because I drank to much to often and now I have permanent chronic pancreatitus. How do you explain how angelfoodministries  gave you a gall bladder attack? Have you tried writing directly to the drug companys that provide your meds? You can ask your dr if he would signa letter to the need you have for the med and he or you send it to the company and the med is usually delivered to your dr's office and you just pick it up. You will more than likely get on medicare as soon as you get SSD in which case all your diabetic supplys will be furnished for you by medicare. You won't have to wait until your a certain age to get on medicare but you do have to be categorically needy to get medicaid. I'm sure you could get your meds through the drug companys and that would loosen up a lot of extra money for your bills. If you want to try for a grant I can give you some aidpage aidmates sites and just click on them and you will find more info and resources and grant info than you could ever need.
